Best Tesco Clubcard Boost Deals: Days Out, Restaurant Deals, Now TV Credits and More…

The Tesco Clubcard scheme is probably my favourite supermarket loyalty scheme. It’s far more generous than the likes of the Morrisons More and Nectar Points schemes in terms of the points rate you receive. Plus, with the Clubcard scheme, you have the option to “Boost” your points and triple their value. You then exchange them for vouchers for Days Out, restaurants and even Now TV vouchers as of this week. So, let’s have a look at the best ways to “Boost” your Tesco Clubcard Points.

What is Tesco Clubcard?

The Tesco Clubcard is Tesco’s long-running loyalty scheme that credits you with Clubcard points whenever you shop in-store or online. It’s been running since 1995 and is one of the largest UK loyalty schemes.

How Much are Tesco Clubcard Points Worth?

Tesco has a fairly simple points system (unlike the likes of the Nectar and Morrisons More schemes). 1-point equals 1p so 100 points are equal to £1. You can’t get much simpler than that, which is why I’ve always liked the Clubcard scheme.

How to Collect Tesco Clubcard Points

As with most store loyalty schemes, you collect Tesco Clubcard points when you swipe your Clubcard each time you do a grocery shop at Tesco. You can also collect Clubcard points when you fill up with fuel at Tesco Petrol stations.  But, you only get 1 point per £2 spend on Fuel though unfortunately. This puts it in line with Nectar points of fuel which is rather disappointing. You can also collect at Esso petrol stations with a Tesco Express attached, although you’ll only get 1 point per £3 spend here…

You can also collect point when you buy F&F clothing, spending though:

  • a Tesco Bank Current Account (1 point per £1 spent in Tesco),
  • spending on a Tesco Bank Credit Cards (1 point per £4 spent in Tesco and £8 elsewhere)
  • and get 1 point for every £1 spent on your Tesco Mobile Phone bill.

Earn points without spending by letting Tesco know how your last visit was using Tesco Views. You simply use the store code at the bottom of your receipt then visit the Tesco Views website to complete a short survey for 25 extra Clubcard points.

How to Boost Tesco Clubcard Vouchers

One of the best features of the Tesco Clubcard scheme is the option to “Boost” your Clubcard points. The Boost available has been reduced in recent years from 4x to just 3 times the standard rate, but it still beats alternative loyalty schemes by some margin.

Here’s how it works.

Rather than just redeeming your vouchers in-store at the standard rate of 1 point = 1p. You swap your points for a voucher to spend with one of the Clubcard reward partners.

You exchange them using the Tesco Clubcard website and choosing where you’d like to spend them by selecting from the list of Partners. You just select how many vouchers you’d like to use and follow the on-screen instructions.

You’ll then get a confirmation email from Tesco with the Reward Partner voucher attached.

Faster Vouchers

If you don’t want to wait for your Clubcard statement to exchange your vouchers you can request them straight away using the Faster Vouchers option. To request them all you need to do is log into your Tesco Clubcard account online or using the app. Once requested, you’ll receive your vouchers within 24 hours. You need a minimum of 150 points to request a Faster Voucher, plus you’ll also need to turn the maximum

How Long are the Partner Vouchers Valid for?

Tesco Clubcard partner vouchers are valid for 6 months, so make sure you’re planning to spend them soon before converting your points.

Best Ways to Spend Clubcard Points

There are several ways to spend your Clubcard points including simply redeeming in-store. However, this just gives you the same value back as a discount on your shop (as with most other loyalty schemes). Where Clubcard Points come into their own though is through their Clubcard Boost option. This allows you to triple the value of your point when redeeming with certain Tesco Clubcard partners. Some of the best deals around are on family days out, cinema tickets and restaurants all of which can be expensive, so Clubcard Boost can provide a bit of welcome relief.

The important thing though is to make sure Boosting your Clubcard points is definitely your best option though, rather than using another promo.

The Best Tesco Clubcard Days Out

The Tesco Clubcard website has a huge variety of options to spend on days out. Plus, you get £1.50 worth of spend for every 50p you have in vouchers. You can choose from a variety of Theme Parks, Wildlife Attractions, Experience Days and Family Days Out at Farms, Castles, Palaces and Gardens to name a few. There are also loads of days out in London available such as Madam Tussauds and Bus Tours.

The important thing to check is whether you can get a better deal somewhere else before opting to spend your Clubcard points. For example, you can exchange your vouchers for entry into Merlin Theme parks such as:

  • Thorpe Park
  • Alton Towers
  • Chessington World of Adventure
  • LEGOLAND® Windsor Resort admission

BUT, in the case of Merlin deals, there are a load of 2 for 1 offers available including:

  • 2 for 1 Merlin deals available on Cadbury’s chocolate,
  • Kellogg’s grown-ups go free when you buy promotional cereals and bars and
  • 2 for 1 Merlin deals available on Cadbury’s chocolate

These might work out cheaper if you don’t have many Clubcard points to cash in so make sure you work it out first.

Standard Merlin Annual Pass

If you’re a heavy user of Merlin attractions, then the annual pass could be a good use of your Clubcard points as you can get 3 x the value of your points. The annual merlin pass currently costs £179 so if you’ve got £60 worth of Clubcard points you’ll be able to get a Merlin Annual Pass for free. You’ll need to make sure you plan on using it enough though to make it worthwhile. If not, you’ll be better off just buying tickets as you go.

As well as the Merlin parks you’ve also got:

  • Adventure Wonderland in Christchurch
  • Drayton Manor
  • Blackpool Pleasure Beach
  • Brean Theme Park
  • Flambards
  • Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach
  • Lightwater Valley
  • M&D’s Theme Park
  • Oakwood Theme Park
  • Ocean Beach Pleasure Park
  • Pleasurewood Hills and
  • Wiksteen Park

Wildlife Attractions

If you fancy a bit of wildlife then you can swap your vouchers for a range of Zoos, Wildlife Parks and Aquariums including:

Aquariums
  • SEA LIFE Centres in Blackpool, Brighton, Birmingham, Hunstanton, Loch Lomond and Great Yarmouth
  • Oceanarium in Bournemouth
  • Blue Reef Aquariums in Hastings, Newquay and Portsmouth
Zoos
  • London Zoo
  • Amazon World Zoo Park on the Isle of Wight
  • Blackpool Zoo
  • Colchester Zoo
  • Exmoor Zoo
  • Howletts Wild Animal Park
  • Longleat in Warminster
  • Highland Safaris

If you fancy a spot of Birdwatching, then you’ve also got:

  • Abbotsbury Swannery in Weymouth
  • Bordland Park and Gardens in Cheltenham
  • Birdworld in Farnham
  • Hawk Conservancy Trust in Andover

If you’re looking for something a bit different you can try Paradise Park in Newhaven, which features moving dinosaur models.

Best Tesco Restaurant Deals / Eating Out

If eating outs your thing, then you can swap your Clubcard points for vouchers towards meals out. You need to be careful with this though as you might be able to get a better deal with another offer such as Meerkat Meals or Tastecard depending on how many Clubcard points you have.

You can use your Clubcard vouchers at the following restaurants:

  • Prezzo
  • Bella Italia
  • Café Rouge
  • Pizza Express
  • ASK Italian
  • Chef & Brewer
  • La Tasca
  • Zizzi

All of these apart from Chef & Brewer are included in the Meerkat Meals and Tastecard* offers. So you may be better off saving your points for Days out rather than restaurant discounts if you use either of these.

Also, with the Tesco Clubcard Points Boost, you can only claim the boosted voucher against food and not drinks (the same applies for Meerkat Meals and Tastecard).

Tesco Clubcard Cinema Vouchers

You can triple the value of your points to buy Cineworld Tickets or a Cineworld Unlimited Pass. For individual tickets, you can swap a minimum of 50 points to get a £1.50 voucher or swap £10 worth of Clubcard points to get a £30 voucher towards a Cineworld Unlimited Pass.

The offer’s only available on the annual subscription though, which is pretty pricey – £220.80 excluding London and the Westend or £250.80 including London and Westend. So, you’ll need to be a keen cinema goer to make use of this!

Again, there are alternatives available for cinema deals such as Meerkat Movies. This gives you 2 for 1 deals every Tuesday and Wednesday at most national cinema chains including Odeon, Cineworld, Vue and Showcase Cinemas.

Tastecard* is another alternative giving you 40% off any day of the week at Vue, Cineworld, Odeon and Independent Cinemas.

Travel & Accommodation Deals

There are also numerous travel and accommodation deals available with Clubcard Boost such as:

  • Railcard and Eurotunnel vouchers
  • Coach tickets for MegaBus and National Express
  • Ferries such as DFDS Seaways, Irish Ferries, P&O Ferries, Stena Line and Wightlink Isle of Wight Ferries
  • Hotel bookings through Hotels.com, Butlins Hotels, Hilton Hotels, Macdonald Hotels and Resorts, Mecure Hotels, Novotel Hotels, Select Hotels and Warner Leisure Hotels
  • Holiday deals through Hoseasons, Royal Caribbean International, Al Fresco Holidays, ABS Boat Hire, Butlins Family breaks, Butlins Live Music Weekends, Cosmos, Cottages.com, Cunard Line, Forest Holidays, Intrepid Travel and P&O Cruises.

Entertainment, Shops and Other Offers

Tesco has just announced that you can swap your Clubcard Points for Now TV account credits.  So £5 worth of points gets you £15 worth of credits or just over 2 months of Now TV (currently £6.99 a month renewal price).

As NOW TV is already one of the cheapest ways to watch premium TV without an expensive Sky or Virgin subscription, this is easily one of the best uses of your Clubcard points.

Summing Up

All in all, the Tesco Clubcard Boost scheme offers some great deals with Days Out looking like one of the best uses of your points. Another of my personal favourites are Now TV credits – you can’t really beat 2-months’ worth of tele for a fiver’s worth of Clubcard points! Just make sure you check around for other deals though before you cash your points in to make sure it’s definitely the best deal…

Do you Boost your Clubcard points? If you do, how do you like to spend them? I’d love to hear in the comments below… As always thanks for reading….
